Taxman
Well, I'll try to maintain my composure as I write this post. I filed my federal and state tax returns the other day. I never get so disgusted about money as when I am reminded of how much the federal government extorts from me every year.
In the year 2006, federal and state governments stole around $5,800 from me without my ever really paying them a dime. What I mean is that they've taken that money from me without my choosing to give it to them. I've also chosen to give them an average of 7% of the amount of money I've spent in retail outlets over the year - on top of whatever taxes are already embedded in the price of an item.
The biggest joke of all is that I am going to need the $900 that the federal government saw fit to GIVE BACK to me to pay MORE TAXES on the vehicle I am about to buy just so I can have ANOTHER BIG TAX BILL at the end of next year. Wonderful!
Is anybody happy with the amount of money they pay in taxes? I bet if you had to write a check to the IRS every month people would notice. Does anybody really think that taxes are too low?

I personally love paying taxes. It's like getting kicked in the nuts every two weeks.....just lovely! The main taxes that I'm against are income, capital gains, and especially property tax. Why should I be penalized every year because I own a home and drive a car? However, the government has to get money some way to fund it's programs. I'd rather see a flat, nation wide sales tax of maybe 10-15% and no other taxes whatsoever. That way you could somewhat control how much you pay each year. Speaking of taxes, check out Denny's blog post from about a month or so ago. It's a video post stating that there is no actual law stating that you have to pay taxes. Viva la revolution!
Welcome back Aaron, its nice to see your normal jaded self back in the posting world instead of that guy posting about building architecture. See you Saturday.
i always pay. every year. no refunds for me. this year - only a couple hun - but STILL!!!!
good to see you are back as well! You must be crazy busy!
Thanks guys.
Cas, do you tell them to take a certain amount out of your check? How do you end up having to pay more money at the end of the year? I always claim 0 and still get money back.
Claiming zero leads to getting money back. The less dependents you claim, the more that is taken out of your weekly paycheck. If I had my druthers, I would claim 4 or 5, invest that extra money and pay out a large sum at tax time.
There you go Jason. Spoken like a conservative.
yup, i have to use my tax return to pay my property taxes. oh the irony.
