World Series

Overall, it was a pretty embarassing weekend for the team on the ball diamond. We were scheduled to play at 8pm on Friday, so I had to leave work early to make it there on time. We started out hot, scoring 7 runs in the top of the first inning. We went on to lose that game by a few runs, but we were contenders throughout the game. The second game was scheduled for 11:15 Saturday morning. As luck would have it, the team we were supposed to play never showed up. That forfeit accounted for our only win. In the second game on Saturday we were beaten by two runs - and were eliminated from the tournament and any berth we might have received for the Super World Series in Vegas. The most embarassing part was that in the two games we lost we played teams that fielded only 9 players. Upsetting - but understandable because all of those teams were there because they had been tournament winners this year.
I finally found my swing at World. I missed hitting for the cycle on Friday by a home run. I went 4 for 4 hitting two triples, a double, and a single. I could've stretched one of the triples into a home run too. I went 2 for 3 on Saturday with two singles and a walk. So, I did pretty well considering I only made one out in eight plate appearances.
After we were eliminated we went out and partied in STL at the 'West Port Plaza'. We drank beer at Ozzie Smith's bar, watched college football and generally tried to forget about softball.

We had a good old time out there. The neatest thing I saw out there was Kevin Nealon walking by. He was walking out the door of some comedy club. I was the only one in our group (or on the street for that matter) to recognize him. I guess I was the only hardcore SNL fan.

oh Kevon Nealon! --A.S. as Cajun man
He's one of my fave's. He's made some good movie appearances as well. Sorry to hear about your losses. Sounds like you played pretty well though.
My favorite character of his was (gay porn actor)'Subliminal Man'.
i just left a comment, but it didn't show!!!!
hooray for baseball!
Boo for whinny bitches that love the Cardinals!
and i said i liked Kevin Nealon as Hanz and Franz!
We just saw Ne-LON in a John Waters movie last night, "Cecil B. Demented." He had a cameo as himself playing Forrest Gump in a fake Gump sequel. Good times.
P.S. SNL is canning Horario Sanz (OH DIOS MIO!), Finesse Mitchell and Chris Parnell. Can't say I'm sad about the last two, and I'm sure they'll find another funny sweaty fat man to follow in Farley's footsteps.

That's good to hear about Sanz. I don't think I ever saw a bit with him in it where he didn't crack up at his own jokes. In my opinion he's a no talent ass clown. I did like Chris Parnell though - he seemed to be the most professional.
Sanz will probably get picked up by Mad TV. They've always been second-rate.
Jade, I can't believe you don't like Chris Parnell. Hello? Lazy Sunday anyone? The Nunie's butler/cabana boy? Colonel Angus? He is one of the best cast memebers as of late. Really second only to Darrel Hammond and Maya Rudolph.
Yeah, Tato and his rice paste is a good one, but he never struck me as anything more than a second banana type of actor. I think they need to get a better cast and new writers to reinvent the show. It's lagging.
