Remote Start Resolution

A year ago February, I took my car to a local car stereo shop to have them install a keyless entry/remote start system. It was more expensive to go there rather than best buy, or something like that, but I was less concerned with price than I was quality of work. They put it in, and it worked really well for about 6 months.
One day last summer I went out to my car to go somewhere. I started the car and put it in gear, then it just died. I tried to start it back up, and it did, and promptly died. At this point I noticed a flashing idiot light that read 'THEFT SYSTEM'. I came to understand that I couldn't start the car when the light was blinking. Sometimes it would come on after trying to start the car and would stay on for 10-15 minutes - which made me late for lots of things.

What did I do? I called upon the services of my lovely and gracious sister LauraKCMO to assist me with my dilemma. Not only did she help me drop my car off, pick me up, and let me borrow her car the next day, but she talked to the mechanics for me too. Get this - she got them to take the system out for free and write me a refund check for the full purchase price. Thank you Laura! You're the best at what you do!

Ive also learned my lesson with such things as stereo installation, amps, alarms, ect. anything of such nature because ive lost my faith in my fellow humans to do anything like this for me for many of the same reasons and always being overcharged so I have finally started doing all of these things myself. Many things occur when you take this road: cheaper-better qualty-satisfaction of self accomplishment.
I've found myself in the same place Denny. I do the vast majority of the maintenance on my own vehicle, and I also do the majority of the repairs.
This is something I'm totally unfamiliar with, and because of that I'm scared to dive in.
If you're interested, I'm trying to bypass/disable/eliminate the PASSLOCK system on my 1996 Buick Skylark Custom with the 2.4 liter engine.
` That's why I just leave my car the way I got it.
` BY THE WAY I HAVE HAD THE INTERNET FOR SOME TIME.
Congratulations on your internet Spoony?
you are not welcome there? What happened? heh heh heh....
well good for you that you got that taken out. you won't miss it till it gets cold anyway.
but i agree. i think you need to start looking for another car. Do you still have to get into yours by the passenger side door?
No Cas, it was the passenger that had to get in through the driver door. That worked out really well on dates.
I am planning on getting a new car as soon as my lasik note is paid off, probably sometime next summer.
