NHRA Summer Nationals

We got there just in time for the final elimination rounds to start. While walking from the car to the gate we could hear the cars going down the track. This was wierd because you'd hear them really loud at the start, then all of a sudden you'd hear them really loud - but from a long way away.
We sat and watched a few rounds, then went back to the car and grilled some brats. We came back in and walked through the pit area where you could see the crews working on the dragsters. We walked around, drank beer, and got some free stuff.

Top 5 sporting events I've attended:
5: IRL race at Kansas
4: KC Explorers w/ Anna Kournikova
3: NHRA Summer Nationals
2: Chiefs Playoff Games
1: World Series Games - Go Royals!
Honerable mentions go to: KC Explorers with Jimmy Connors, Chris Evert, and Michael Chang; Royals game in Anaheim; and Platte County Demolition Derby.

Sounds like fun. I prefer Turismo style racing, and absolutely abhor nascar. I agree the demolition derby is cool.
They have a road course at Heartland Park. They also have a dirt oval and the world-class dragstrip.
i've been to that when i was in high school - i think. i can't remember. i think i thought the funny car races were the best. did they have those? well, i seem to remember going to Topeka for some drag racing, and then they brought out old hot rods.
i don't know....i was rawkin' the gange...
did you go with your pa? he likes that stuff, right?
i think my top 5 sporting events would be:
5. Comets game (cause i got a free ball)
4. Blades Game (in high school with Clint White and Brian Fahlstrom)
3. Broncos vs. Cheifs at Mile High
2. All roller derby bouts
1. Royals game - when everyone got into a fight on the field. it was awesome!
` NASCAR MUST DIE!
` Er... ahh... whatever.
` I actually don't have much patience for sports of any type unless I'm playing.
` BTW.... Aaron, you seem to be the blog expert. Any chance you can fix my 'about me' section on my mad scientist blog sidebar? I accidentally saved it that way and I can't find my backup.
Spoony, why don't you tell us all how you REALLY feel about NASCAR?
You have to send me your credentials for the mad scientist blog. I'd be happy to sabotage... er, uh, fix it.
Ya Cas, they had funny cars there too. The top three major divisions of NHRA are Top Fuel, Funny Car, and Pro Modified. All of those plus some others ran.
I went with my neighbors.
Aaron, here are standard do-it-yourself instructions for bypassing the PASSLOCK on your car.
` NASCAR is dead to me!!!
` Yyyeah. Oh, and thanks for fixing my blogginess thingy.
New Post!!
Did you get your drivers license yet? I told Jason he should have sent it certified mail so it wouldn't get lost...alas, no.
~Jade
no, I didn't send it certified...thanks for making me look like a jackass. Hope you got it.....if not, let me know.
Sincerely,
The jackass that didn't send it certified mail....
-J
I did receive the package, all is well. For the record, it was sent first class, not certified.
From the one NOT trying to make anyone look like a jackass, but the one whose anal parents always insist in sending EVERYTHING important via certified mail: large checks, tax papers, etc.,
I'm glad it arrived safely!
~Jade
Thank you very much for the info Denny. I did end up finding a way around the passlock system. I'll put up a post about it soon.
